Glen Elgin Eco Carers

The Glen Elgin Eco Carers’ Landcare group formed in 2010 to raise awareness of the area's endangered ecological community – Eucalyptus pauciflora (snow gums) - and to bring landholders together to strategically protect this remnant community from invading grasses (Chilean Needle grass, Whisky grass, and Serrated Tussock) and pest animals such as deer, feral cats, foxes and rabbits.

Our group comprises landholders on both sides of Yahna and Morven Roads, Glen Elgin. Butterleaf State Forest and National Park join us to the north while the world heritage Washpool and Gibraltar National Parks are to the east. Our district is part of the largely uncleared, east-west wildlife corridor linking the native vegetation of the western slopes with the eastern fall country.  We partner with Northern Tablelands Local Land Services, Glen Innes Severn Council, Forestry Commission NSW and National Parks and Wildlife Service NSW to manage invasive species introductions.

Contact the GLENRAC on 02 6732 3443 for further details on how to be a participating member of Glen Elgin Eco Carers’ Landcare group.
