Soils for Life Field Day

Healthy Soils, Healthy Farms

Local cattle producers, Greg & Sally Chappell have been recognised for their innovative management practises by Outcomes Australia, which through its Soils for Life program is aiming to reverse Australia’s land degradation crisis.

The organisation, led by former governor-general Michael Jeffery, supports farmers who are achieving high performance through innovative regenerative land management.  The Chappell’s are one of nineteen farms selected across Australia to be profiled by Soils for Life.

Chappell’s have significantly changed their management practises from traditional agriculture to biological carbon focused farming over the past 7 year period. Innovations include organic fertilisation tailored to soil and plant nutrient requirements; no cultivation or herbicides and managed grazing pressures.

The Chappell’s will host an on property field day on Wednesday 21 November to share their experiences with change and those interested are invited to attend this event. Guest speakers will include Major General Michael Jeffery, Bart Davidson and Greg Chappell. The day will run from 9:30am to 4:00pm and will include a paddock tour to view demonstration sites.

This field day is supported by the Soils for Life program and GLENRAC through the Australian Governments Caring for Our Country funding program. If you would like to attend this event, contact GLENRAC on 02 6732 3443 by the 16th November. A fee of $10 per person will be payable on the day to contribute towards the cost of catering.
