Media Release: Join GLENRAC for a Winter Garden Walk at ‘Kent Farm’ Glen Innes

Under the English Oak at 'Rosedale’

Welcome the arrival of spring in the New England at GLENRAC’s open garden event at ‘Kent Farm’ Glen Innes this August.

Home to Dr Phillip Correy, his wife Kay and their four daughters, Elizabeth, Monique, Rachel and Gabby, ‘Kent Farm’ is a large garden featuring a tree-lined driveway, formal rose beds, woodland plantings, broad sweeping lawns, specimen trees and mature plantings that date back to the early 1900s.

When the Correy’s first purchased the property in 1989, ‘Kent Farm’ was a largely untended 60 acre block roaming with cattle. Under the careful eye of the Correys, the property has expanded

to feature an architecturally designed home and pool, in addition to the landscape designed gardens which have been a backdrop for open gardens, functions and weddings over the years.

This is the first time ‘Kent Farm’ will be open to the public since 2003 and GLENRAC are very proud to be hosting this event.

The day will also feature a talk by Bingara-based horticulturalist and photographer Amber Hall on working with nature and mindful gardening. Popular speaker Nicki Walker will also feature on the day, demonstrating DIY composting and worm farming for the house and garden.

Morning and afternoon tea will be provided on the day, as well as the ‘Bean Travellin’ van which will be on site to deliver warm drinks on the day. Attendees are asked to BYO chair.

This open garden event builds upon the success of GLENRAC’s 2021 open garden weekend which welcomed more than 260 people to two gardens in bushfire impacted areas in the Glen Innes region: Cath and Bob Wheatley’s ‘Rosedale’ and Ros and Pete Alexander’s ‘Whinstanes’ at Skeleton Creek.

‘Last year’s event highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for people from all across the region to come together to catch up, learn and enjoy,’ said GLENRAC Chief Executive Officer, Kylie Falconer.

‘After the cold and darkness of winter, it’s an immensely positive and energising thing to get outside and experience the excitement that spring gardens and a good New England season can deliver. We hope everyone enjoys the day out at ‘Kent Farm’ and the talks from both Amber Hall and Nicki Walker.’
