GLENRAC’s Bushfire recovery grant soon available to landholders in the Glen Innes region

Expressions of Interest will soon be open for GLENRAC’s Bushfire Recovery Project, which is funded through the Northern Tablelands Local Land Services and NSW government. The grant aims to assist individuals and community groups within 50km of Glen Innes to complete small on-ground works in the recovery from the 2019/2020 bushfires, as well improving future preparedness of landholders and/or communities in the event of similar circumstances.

NORTHERN TABLELANDS GROWERS URGED TO LOOK OUT FOR FALL ARMYWORM

Northern Tablelands Local Land Services (LLS) has urged farmers to be on the lookout for signs of fall armyworm (FAW) following the detection of multiple moths around Inverell. LLS Pastures Agronomist, Georgie Oakes, said while this is one of the first detections in the Northern Tablelands, it is likely more cases of FAW will be reported over summer.

Local Molecular Ecologist, Deane Smith, to Headline GLENRAC Focus Event

Deane Smith has been busy in the years since graduating from Glen Innes High School back in 2010, earning himself a Bachelor of Science (majoring in Zoology and Genetics), and an Honours in Ecology from the University of New England, before commencing a PhD in molecular ecology as part of the Wildlife Research Group at the University of Southern Queensland – a research project that leads Deane to some of the most remote outback landscapes in Australia.
