Landcare Awards 2012

At the recent Landcare Adventure hosted by Gwymac Landcare in Inverell, Major General Michael Jeffery presented the GLENRAC Landcare Award to local land owner, Peter King, in recognition of his contribution to the Rummerys Hill Landcare Group.  Peter has organised a number of meetings and field days including expert talks, displays and group activities to help members manage their land better for grazing, wildlife conservation and lifestyle purposes.

Peter King said ‘because Rummerys Hill has only been lightly cleared it remains a good wildlife refuge. Rare wildlife such as koalas, squirrel gliders and glossy black-cockatoos rely on Rummerys Hill, part of a regionally important wildlife corridor linking Pindari Dam to the eastern ranges.’

Glenrac would like to congratulate Peter on receiving this Landcare Award.  The next meeting of the Rummerys Hill Landcare group will be on the 14th April at “Oakleigh”.
